US Warns of IRGC Trained Sudanese Islamist Force

The United States has designated the Sudanese Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organisation, accusing it of receiving training and support from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Washington says fighters tied to the group’s Al Baraa Bin Malik Brigade have committed mass executions and other abuses against civilians in Sudan.

Reports circulating alongside the designation say more than 20,000 Islamist fighters have been recruited into the conflict, though that figure has not been fully detailed in the formal U.S. notice.

Officials say the case underlines Tehran’s wider strategy of arming and directing proxy groups across the Middle East and parts of Africa.
