Pakistani officials say they are expecting a major breakthrough on Iran’s nuclear programme, sources told Al Jazeera today, as Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir arrived in Tehran carrying a message from Washington.
Munir met with Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi, who thanked Pakistan for “gracious hosting of dialogue.”
The White House said it feels “good about the prospects of a deal” and confirmed further talks would likely take place in Islamabad.
The ceasefire expires 22 April.
Pakistani PM Sharif is simultaneously touring Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey to neutralise any regional opposition to a settlement.
