President Trump told Fox Business this morning that he views the Iran war as “very close to over,” adding that the situation “will happen fairly soon, who knows.”
He also revealed he exchanged letters with Chinese President Xi Jinping over reports that Beijing was preparing to supply Iran with new air defence systems – a claim China’s foreign ministry has dismissed as “entirely fabricated.”
US intelligence, however, told NBC News it assesses China is planning to provide weapons to Iran within weeks. Trump warned Beijing would face a 50% tariff if it does so.
Vance separately said he is still fighting for what he called “the grand bargain” with Iran.
